detail support for an organization or function. Examples include
secretarial and technician level support functions.
* COMPLIANCE
AND REGULATION - Jobs dealing with compliance and regulation.
Examples include inspection, investigation, licensing, insurance,
management audits, risk and safety, tax, commerce, public utilities,
agricultural, environmental, real estate, etc.
* CONSTRUCTION
AND MAINTENANCE - Jobs building and preserving or caring
for state facilities, highways and roads. Examples include facilities,
highways, roads, and telecommunications management and maintenance.
* COURTS
- Jobs in the judicial branch of state government. Contact
the courts for employment information.
* EDUCATION
/ PUBLIC INFORMATION / ARTS - Jobs that administer academic
instruction, provide information to the community and encourage
the fine arts. Examples include libraries, archives, arts, history,
public information, interpreters, rehabilitation, and education.
* ENGINEERING
/ SCIENTIFIC - Jobs that apply engineering or scientific
expertise. Examples include laboratories, engineers, chemists,
etc.
* ENVIRONMENTAL
/ AGRICULTURE / NATURAL RESOURCES - Jobs monitoring and regulating
environmental and agricultural issues. Jobs dealing with the
monitoring and regulation of air, land, minerals, and wildlife.
Also included are jobs dealing with oil, gas and mining, wildlife
or parks and recreation.
* FISCAL
/ BUDGET / PURCHASING - Jobs dealing with financial matters;
budgeting, purchasing, accounting, financial auditing, collections,
contracts, grants, payroll, investments, etc.
* GOVERNORS
OFFICE - Jobs in the Governors office and/or residence. Most
jobs are not part of the state merit system and are filled by
appointment.
* HUMAN
RESOURCES - Jobs that provide human resource or personnel
services.
* INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY (COMPUTERS) - Jobs that provide programming, networking
and other computer related services.

law enforcement and/or correctional services.
* SALES
/ SERVICES - Jobs acting in a sales or service capacity.
Examples are jobs dealing with food and beverages, laundry, sales,
customer service, technical service and personal care service.
* SOCIAL
SERVICES / COUNSELING - Jobs that promote the public welfare
by providing social services and/or counseling. Examples include
jobs dealing with human services, mental health, public assistance,
rehabilitation, recovery services, youth corrections, case work,
or unemployment.
* STATISTICS
/ RESEARCH - Jobs that conduct research and/or statistical
analysis, economics or planning and forecasting.
